about

Consisting of Brooklyn duo M-TRI and DJ Leecy T, and Ukrainian hip-hop legends Dee the Conscious One, and Vagskee, the name 7 Hours Later represents the time difference between the two locales.
The initial seeds for the creation of the long-distance supergroup were planted in 2013 when M-TRI and DJ Leecy T – who have a long history of international touring – collaborated with Dee the Conscious One for the song “Rush.” “Rush” would end up on M-TRI and DJ Leecy T’s Monday Morning Music album, which was released in 2015 to critical acclaim, garnering album of the year consideration from a number of hip-hop blogs.
Shortly after their collaboration, Dee booked the Brooklyn duo to headline the Represent #7 hip-hop festival in Ukraine. While there, they also filmed a video with Dee for “Rush,” and discussed their shared love of international collaborations and the classic boom-bap sound.
Despite living over 5,000 miles from each other, it turned out they had a lot in common. While M-TRI and DJ Leecy T had been inspiring audiences both locally, and internationally, with their true school hip-hop style, Dee the Conscious One had been spreading a similar sound in his native Ukraine. A member of the Universal Zulu Nation who’s been performing for nearly two decades, Dee is part of the Mad Cypha crew, and in 2014 he released an EP with DJ/producer Vagskee titled Amazing How It’s Goin’ Down in This Life.
It was this connection with Vagskee that would turn out to be the final puzzle piece to form 7 Hours Later.
Vagskee hails from Yalta (550 miles from Dee’s home of Kyiv), and he’s one of the organizers of the international hip-hop festival Yalta Summer Jam. In 2010 he released an album titled Work and Travel, which is considered a seminal album in Ukrainian hip-hop history.
With Vagskee in the fold, 7 Hours Later was born in full.
